Given Mandlenkosi Mabuza

Mr. Given Mandlenkosi Mabuza hails from Mpumalanga Province, where he began his distinguished career in union leadership. His journey started at the Shongwe Branch, where he first demonstrated his commitment to advocating for teachers’ rights. His leadership skills and dedication led him to take on a more prominent role as the Chairperson of the Ehlanzeni Region, where he further honed his ability to mobilize and represent union members effectively.

In 2019, Mr. Mabuza was appointed Vice President of NATU, with a key focus on Recruitment and Retention. His strategic efforts in this role strengthened NATU’s membership base and organizational impact. In 2021, he stepped into the role of Acting Deputy President, showcasing his readiness for higher leadership responsibilities. In 2022, during the National Elective Conference, he was formally elected as Deputy President, a position he successfully retained in 2025 at the subsequent National Elective Conference.

Beyond his leadership within NATU, Mr. Mabuza plays a critical role in representing the union in key external structures. He serves as a negotiator at the Public Service Coordinating Bargaining Council (PSCBC), where he advocates for members’ interests in national labour discussions. Additionally, as the Deputy Chairperson of the Education Labour Relations Council (ELRC), he represents NATU in shaping policies within the education sector.
