Siphiwe Aubrey Dlamini
Mr. Siphiwe Aubrey Dlamini is the Vice President for Structures and Development, bringing over 30 years of dedicated service to the South African education sector.
His career began as an educator at Emhlangana Primary School, where he delivered high-quality teaching in accordance with the national curriculum. He actively contributed to learner support programmes, extracurricular activities, and broader school development initiatives. Recognised for his leadership potential, he progressed to the position of Departmental Head and later served as Principal of Nomahaye Primary School.
Within the union, Mr. Dlamini’s leadership skills were first prominently recognised during his tenure as Chairperson of the Mpofana Branch. He was subsequently elected Estcourt Region Chairperson, representing NATU across the Umzinyathi and Uthukela Districts. He served on various committees of the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Education Labour Relations Council (PELRC) before his appointment to the NATU Central Executive Board. In 2022, at the National Elective Conference, he was elected Vice President for Structures and Development — a position to which he was re-elected in 2025.
In his current national role, Mr. Dlamini provides strategic leadership across the union’s structures. He oversees policy development, labour relations, teacher welfare, and advocacy initiatives. He represents NATU in high-level engagements with the Department of Basic Education, the South African Council for Educators (SACE), and other key stakeholders, while coordinating the union’s regional structures and branches.
Mr. Dlamini possesses deep expertise in strategic leadership, negotiation, and public advocacy. A proud son of Msinga in KwaZulu-Natal, his career exemplifies a steady and impressive rise from dedicated classroom educator to one of the most influential voices in South African teacher unionism.
